It seemed as though their problem had been solved, but it wasnât to be for the residents of Bartlett Road.
The Lennoxville residents were told last month that the city would be fixing up the crumbling street, only to have the plans cancelled because of a misinterpreted contract.
On September 19 the City of Sherbrooke approved plans at a council meeting to invest $2 million into roadwork projects this fall, $430,000 of which was to be dedicated to repairing Bartlett Road.
A misinterpreted contract forced the City of Sherbrooke to reconsider plans announced last month to undertake construction work on multiple roads this fall, meaning only one of the four streets targeted in the initial proposal will see improvements in 2011.
Four years after Montreal company Maybach Corp. proposed setting up a megadump at the Jeffrey mine, the town of Asbestos is still waiting for an official plan it can study.

About 30 mobile home tenants were in attendance for Monday nightâs council meeting to express their serious concerns about the future of the residences, which are at risk of being forced out in favour of single family homes, but councillors could only offer them sympathy and a consensus that no options are really available until the next urbanism plan in a couple of years.
This week and upcoming weekend is filled with different soccer competitions taking place across the province, and the Eastern Townships presence will be felt at almost every one of them as many players from the area have made their way onto various club or provincial teams.

A Canadian born scientist and former Sherbrooke resident has won the prestigious Nobel Prize but unfortunately he will never know of his illustrious achievement and the initial controversy it triggered.
Monday morning, the Nobel Foundation announced Dr. Ralph M. Steinman was among three researchers to be awarded the 2011 prize in medicine or physiology for uncovering key secrets of how the bodyâs immune system works.
A Compton woman drowned last weekend while helping her husband escape from their vehicle after it ran into a pond in North Hatley.
Fifty one year-old Line Michaud was driving home from a party in Bromont with her husband at around 11:20 p.m. Saturday night when he fell asleep behind the wheel and drove the truck into a pond along side North Hatley road near the Manoir Hovey. According to Memphremagog police captain Yves Denis, the man admitted to falling asleep and no brake marks were present on the road.
