Throughout Sherbrookeâs parks and streets, garbage cans are overflowing. Bags filled to capacity have spilled out onto the ground as they have gone unemptied due to the on-going blue-collar strike, which is on the verge of entering its fourth week.
Still, according to city communications representative Guylaine Hébert, few complaints have been lodged with the city regarding overflowing garbage cans, a situation she said they are following closely.

The world famous Shrine Circus will be performing at the Galeries Quatre Saisons in Sherbrooke this weekend from Friday, August 19 to Sunday, August 21.
The circus will put on eight spectacular shows throughout the weekend, showing off much of their new material that they have been hard at work preparing and perfecting on their tour throughout the country.

Lucien-Blanchard beach was reopened Thursday after four straight days of being closed for poor water quality.
Tests performed on Wednesday earned the water a âBâ rating, meaning it is considered safe to swim by the City of Sherbrooke.

This Sunday two more townships churches will celebrate yearâs worth of memories as they hold their last service.
St. James in South Durham and Bishoptonâs Church of the Good Shepherd, both under the Anglican diocese of Quebec, no longer have enough parishioners to keep their institutions opened.
For St. James parishioner Muriel Duffy and her family, it is the end of an era.
âI feel particularly badly for my mother in law,â said Duffy. âShe was raised in this church and married in it and I know her heart would be broken to know it was closing.â
