A suspicious fire completely gutted Windsor’s St-Philippe church, Sunday morning, leaving residents angry and in shock.
The fire broke out around 2 a.m. in the sacristy and quickly spread throughout the imposing St-Georges St. church, which is a total loss.

Sutton taxpayers appreciate opportunity to ask questions

Sutton Mayor Pierre Pelland held an information session on Saturday, May 18 to discuss the contentious $4 million renovation plan for the town hall. Over 100 citizens were in attendance, and while many expressed appreciation for the information meeting, it also left many feeling uneasy about what seemed more like a sales pitch than an information session.

Quebecois cinema comes to Sherbrooke for a wide-angle shot

Head off to the MarchĂ© de la Gare in Sherbrooke to admire still shots of this year’s best Quebecois films.
The exterior exhibition “Plan Large-Le CinĂ©ma QuĂ©bĂ©cois en Photo” (The Wide-Angle Shot: Quebecois Film Captured in Photography) will be available for Sherbrooke locals to examine till June 14, 2013.

Sutton taxpayers question need for $4-million town hall

Sutton taxpayers are questioning a hastily proposed $4-million town hall renovation on the heels of skyrocketing municipal taxes and escalating operating costs for the town.
The question is not whether or not to renovate - most agree work is required. It’s the scope of the plan and the manner it is being presented that has taxpayers worried.

SES police intervention: ‘Game of the broken telephone’

Students and staff at Sherbrooke Elementary School got a scare Wednesday afternoon as the Sherbrooke Police carried out an investigation in the area around the school. The police were called in after two separate students approached supervisors at lunch-hour saying that they saw a suspicious looking individual near the school. The school’s administration contacted the police and opted to secure the building for the remainder of the afternoon as the SPS carried out their investigation.

Scottish harpist and fiddler visit four countries for Routes to Roots project

Esther Swift and Catriona Price are finishing up their one-month tour in Canada by playing a string of concerts in the Sherbrooke region. Together, the harpist and fiddler make up the innovative modern folk group, Twelfth Day. They will be playing a traditional folk dance in Waterville on tonight (May 17) along with local musicians Nicholas Williams and Alex Kehler. On Saturday, Twelfth Day will play a concert at La Caravane in North Hatley.

 and it will take your breath away. Combine the love of sports and arts
 come for the Sherbrooke Games during the day and catch a show of Les Sept Doigts de la Main at night.
At a press conference held on a cold May afternoon at the microbrewery Siboire, the performers of the circus show Les Sept Doigts de la Main unveiled their true colours for the upcoming summer show “SĂ©quence 8.”
Spunky, riveting, loud
 the performers demonstrated a riveting mini show of contemporary dance mingled with acrobatics.

Garage sale ‘Grand Tour’ deadline looms

The Sherbrooke ‘Grand Tour’ garage sale days are coming to the Sherbrooke boroughs of Lennoxville and Jacques-Cartier on June 1 and 2, and those who wish to participate have until Friday to register for a permit.
The ‘Grand Tour’ concept is to concentrate one of summer’s most distinguishing features in a single weekend, making it easier for buyers and sellers to come together.

Boil water advisory issued for Waterville

In order to connect the water pipes from the new water treatment plant to the distribution system, Waterville residents are advised to boil their drinking water as a preventive measure from Thursday, May 16 at 8 a.m. until further notice (at least May 25). A letter will be sent by mail for the lifting of the boiling advisory notice.
Do not use tap water before boiling it at a rolling boil for at least one minute, or use bottled water.
Water that has been boiled for one minute or bottled water should be used for the following activities until residents receive notice to the contrary:
