Biography: Mathieu Girard has run more than 24,000 kilometres

April 4, 2013

I discovered my passion for running in August 2004. Before that, though I was running on the trails of Parc du Mont Sutton, I didn’t really have any particular goal. It was on August 28, 2004 that the light went on. Like several million other viewers I watched the Athens Olympics and the final of the men’s 5,000 metres. I literally was blown away seeing Hicham El Guerrouj in this contest win the gold medal and his second Olympic Games medal. The splendour of his stride and the intensity of the moment had simply seduced me.
