After a frustrating battle over parking, the merchants at Sherbrooke Marche de la Gare farmer's market and the City of Sherbrooke have come to an agreement that will still give shoppers a little bit of free parking.
Earlier this year The Record reported the City’s intention to eliminate the free hour of parking in order to recoup the cost of the new modern electronic payment terminals.
The merchants denounced the city’s pay-to-park decision noting that, compared to larger stores with greater selection and free parking, making clients pay to shop in the specialty market made it difficult for them to compete.
