The BCS Bears girls rugby team capped off an outstanding season by recording a come-from-behind 26-12 victory over the Stanstead College Spartans to capture the Eastern Townships Interscholastic Athletic Conference title a week ago Thursday. BCS had a banner 2013 year that included an undefeated league record and a gold medal performance at the Canadian Private School championships (CAIS) held in British Columbia in April and a first place finish in an Eastern Townships 7s tournament last month.
Despite their earlier success, Bishop’s College School had their hands full when the Spartans visited Lennoxville in the ETIAC championship match. The Spartans struck first with a try from five metres out and the early score provided momentum for the rest of the half allowing Stanstead to take a 12-0 at the intermission.

“It was important for the girls to get back to the basics and do the ‘little things’ that made them successful at CAIS and the rest of the season,” Coach Adam Spirk wrote on his blog.
That’s exactly what the Bears did in the second half.
