As October quickly approaches, so does the half-way point of the RSEQ football season, and this weekend especially may be an important telling point for all teams involved as several big games are slated to take place over the next couple of days.
The Bishop’s Gaiters football team will be traveling to Montreal on Friday to take on the McGill Redmen in what should be a highly exciting bout. The game is a part of McGill’s annual “fill the stadium” event, which usually draws in some of the biggest crowds of the year to the Percival Molson Stadium.
The Gaiters are coming off of a hard fought homecoming loss last weekend when they fell to the Montreal Carabins 36-22 in front of their home crowd.
McGill, on the other hand, is coming off a 12-4 loss to the Laval Rouge & Or in a game played last Sunday in Quebec City. Laval’s 12 points was the lowest point total the team has achieved in their past 41 home games, proving that McGill’s defense is as impressive as ever this year and will certainly be something the Gaiters will have to handle this weekend.
Bishop’s enters the game with one win and three losses, good enough to currently rank them fifth in the league, one spot ahead of McGill who is still winless this season, sitting on a 0-4 record.
While the Gaiters will be out of town playing on the road, the Sherbrooke Vert & Or will be playing at home Saturday, hosting the Montreal Carabins at 1 p.m.
