Ex-husband charged in Victoriaville stabbing E-mail

By Doug McCooeye

The 49-year-old accused of stabbing a man appeared before a judge in a Victoriaville courtroom last week.
Wayne Alexander Reid was arrested early Tuesday morning shortly after a domestic dispute at a residence on Olivier Street in Victoriaville.
It was late Monday night when officers from the Surete du Quebec in Arthabaska were made aware of a quarrel between Reid and his ex-wife at her apartment building on the corner of Olivier and Jutras Est. By the time the SQ arrived, Reid had left the premises with no damage done.
About two hours later, the police were called back to the scene, as Reid had returned to continue the argument.
According to accounts, a neighbour who was witness to the altercation tried to intervene and was subsequently stabbed by Reid.
The suspect then fled the scene on foot, but was quickly apprehended by SQ patrol and promptly arrested.
Reid faces over a dozen charges related to the incident, including one count of attempted murder.
The suspect is also accused of being in violation of a court order, as he was not allowed to have any contact with his ex-wife.
While the victim suffered serious injuries in the altercation, his wounds are said to not be life threatening.
Reid will be detained until his next court appearance on October 29.

While generally taking the high road in his political statements, the Opposition leader did not spare Prime Minister Stephen Harper criticism while mocking his now-famous Nunavut runway ATV excursion. “When asked if he had broken any laws by driving around the runway like that, the Prime Minister responded ‘I make the rules.’ Well, Canadians believe that they make the rules.
