Emergency crews from the Cookshire-Eaton Fire Department responded to the scene of a head-on collision on Jan. 4 at around 5:15 p.m. The slippery road was closed to traffic for approximately half an hour and the five occupants of a caravan and single occupant of a car suffered minor injuries and were transported to the hospital for treatment. According to Cookshire-Eaton Fire Chief Mike Herring this was only one of many incidents the department responded to within a short period.

On Sunday, Jouhainna Lebel and François Paradis, owners of the Sherbrooke boutique Choco-Là, were the victims of fraud and identity theft. In a matter of minutes, an unidentified suspect (or suspects) managed to steal $15,000 through an online banking scam. |

Earlier this week, the Sherbrooke-based sanitation product company Cherbourg Sanitaire et Emballage announced it would be taking over the clients of Samson Produits Sanitaires de Sherbrooke. It is a move that will help Cherbourg expand its clientele and specialization, while Samson will benefit from Cherbourg’s experience in the sanitation business.

Yesterday marked the first day of classes at the new Université de Sherbrooke academic building in Longeuil. Constructed at a cost of $125 million, the new structure is the first university building ever erected in the South Shore of Montreal.
