Rock Isabel gets first win as rookie coach By Michael Innes Rock Isabel said last week that his first game as new head coach of the Momo Sport/Powerteck would be important and that he wanted nothing more than a win from his team. His wish came true Friday night as the Momo Sport beat the Pneu Jutras de Nicolet 8-4 in pre season action at the JA Lemay arena in Windsor.

Montreal moves into sixth place
By Mike Hickey Special to the Record The Montreal Impact appear to be peaking at the right time as the professional soccer team recorded its second consecutive shutout win Friday night blanking the league-leading Rochester Rhinos 2-0 in front of a sellout crowd of 13,034 at Saputo Stadium. The win moved the Impact from a tie for the eighth and final playoff spot to sixth place in the USSF Second Division standings, two points ahead of the Puerto Rico Islanders. The victory, which ended the Rhinos six-game winning streak, also gave Montreal some much needed confidence as they head down the home stretch of the regular season.

 Americas Cup: Canada brings home darts gold This year’s WDF Americas Cup Dart Championship was held in Abaco (Marsh Harbour) Bahamas from August 21 to 23. The team of Jerry Hull (Franklin Centre, Quebec), Dion Laviolette (Alberta), Jenelle Legge (Newfoundland) and Nathalie Bolduc (Sherbrooke, Quebec) along with Mary Dezan as team manager travelled to the Bahamas to compete for the fifth time in this event. Accompanying the team this year was a youth player Shaun Narain from Alberta along with the Youth Coach Dean Lawson. Shaun won the right to participate in the inaugural Americas Cup Youth Event by qualifying at the Youth Nationals in Gander, Newfoundland. |
