By Mike Hickey An outstanding effort went for naught when the Champlain College men’s basketball team dropped a 99-96 overtime decision to St-Hyacinthe in a CEGEP AA playoff game Tuesday night. The win moves St-Hyacinthe into this weekend’s Regionals playoffs while the Cougars’ strong season ends in disappointment. In arguably the most exciting game in the AA circuit this season, the two teams battled for 45 minutes, exchanging leads, fighting for loose balls and rebounds and coming up with big plays in key situations. For most of the game the Cougars were the better team, yet in the end it was St-Hyacinthe that will advance to the next round. The play was far from perfect, each team committed numerous turnovers and missed easy shots but there were also moments of brilliance and no one could question the intensity from both sides. Every time one team would appear to have the game under control the opposition would put on a spurt and get back in the game. Complete recap in today's Record.

The Gaiters men’s basketball team continued their winning ways Friday night in Concordia as they knocked off the Stingers 74-61 to remain unbeaten in league action in 2010. Bishop’s was led once again by their dazzling freshman Onnex Blackwood who paced the Gaiters with 24 points on a tidy 9-for-15 shooting. Blackwood has been a beast since Christmas, recording two double-doubles and consecutive twenty point games.
