Police in the municipality of Coaticook seized 20 pounds of marijuana and 110 grams of what they believe may be methamphetamine during a drug raid last Thursday.
The 24-year-old tenant of the raided residence, located on McCauley Street in Coaticook, was arrested and charged with possession of cannabis with intention to traffic, according to a statement released by the Sûreté du Québec.
Police targeted the home due to its previous connection with drug offenses, the statement specified.
A large number of drug busts in the Estrie region have taken place over the last week in the light of the recent creation of a new drug squad, specifically targeting methamphetamine dealers. The squad comprises representatives of both the SQ and regional police departments from multiple areas of the townships, and has an annual budget of $400,000.
