ETSB support staff approves strike mandate

The Townships Regional Union of Support Staff voted in favour of a strike mandate, in line with numerous other French and English syndicats in the province so far.
The vote for the support staff employees was 88 per cent in favour, according to representative Julie Dubois. Bus drivers, also represented by TRUSS, voted 57 per cent in favour of the mandate to strike.
While no action will be taken until after the federal election on Oct.19, Dubois said that TRUSS advised its members not to cross the picket line at Massey-Vanier High School or Sutton Elementary School on Sept. 30 when the Federation Autonome de l’Enseignment, which is acting independently and includes the teachers of the Val des Cerfs school board, will hold a strike day, the first in its three-day mandate.
