The following are actual -mail messages I received this week from fellow Dallas Cowboys fans following their epic collapse to the Detroit Lions this past weekend:
“As a die-hard Cowboy fan, I’ve never been more ashamed of my team than this past Sunday’s fiasco/debacle/disaster!!! It’s almost enough to turn off for the season and wait for either i) them to trade Romo immediately or ii) next season.”
“I was hoping that time would heal me but not yet. What I don’t get is why they were even throwing on first down deep in their end with a 24-point lead in the third quarter? Once things started to slide, no one seemed to be able to show the leadership to step up and make a play to stop the momentum.”
“Ya Romo really sucks. Pretty face though.”
That was pretty much the consensus feeling among Cowboys supporters after Dallas let a 24-point third quarter lead slip away. The collapse was due in large part to back-to-back interceptions by quarterback Tony Romo, who has an affinity for punching Cowboys fans in the stomach when they least expect it.
Personally, I’ve become immune to Romo’s brain farts, since they happen so often. I wasn’t even surprised. You get used to this when a gunslinger is your everyday QB.
Sunday seemed like the last straw for a lot of Cowboys fans. They can only put up with so much torment before they’ll throw in the towel. Last year, when it went bad, the blame went to head coach Wade Phillips, who was eventually canned and replaced. This year, if it goes bad, I have a feeling it will be Romo’s head on a platter.
And to me that’s wrong.
