Hydro-Sherbrooke could save between $400,000 and $500,000 a year if they improve their load-shedding processes, something that would reduce their need to purchase electricity from Hydro-Quebec.
That piece of information was put forward by the city’s auditor general, Claude Cournoyer, in his annual report for 2010 which was presented during Tuesday night’s city council meeting.
The report’s first chapter was dedicated to the performance of Hydro-Sherbrooke, in which Cournoyer specified that the organization purchased 95 per cent, totaling $95 million, of their electricity from Hydro-Quebec in 2010.
“Slight improvements in that percentage would translate in the potential for improvements to the central budget of thousands of dollars,” he told the council Tuesday night.
