Leads Gaiters to 36-23 victory over Mount Allison: QB Jordan Heather named Quebec Offensive Player of the Week

September 19, 2011

Jordan Heather of the Bishop’s Gaiters has been named the Quebec university football Offensive Player of the Week for the week ending September 18, 2011. This is the first time in his career that Heather has won this award, and the first time a Gaiter has been named Offensive Player of the Week this season.
Heather threw for a career-high 459 yards as he led the Gaiters to a 36-23 victory over the Mount Allison Mounties on Saturday afternoon. Heather’s total was a regular-season single-game record for the Gaiters, and one yard short of the all-time school record (460, set by Silvio Martel in an 1991 OQIFC semifinal).
The third-year history major from Oromocto, NB, playing in his first CIS game in his home province, completed 26 of 41 passes, including three touchdowns and one interception. This was Heather's second consecutive 300-yard game, in only his third career regular-season start.
Heather is now a finalist for the CIS football Player of the Week award, which will be announced on Wednesday. The Gaiters’ (1-2) next action is on Saturday afternoon, as they host the Montreal Carabins (2-1) at Coulter Field in the annual Homecoming game. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
