Organizers put together quite a program for the inaugural weekend at the new Pat Burns Arena in Stanstead this past weekend. There wasn’t a spot left in the parking lot and cars overflowed into neighbouring streets. And beginning on Friday and continuing right through Sunday afternoon, the action at the new facility was practically non-stop.
On Friday night, the arena hosted a dinner and dance, sold out well in advance, with partying until about midnight, and live entertainment by a local band from the 1960s known as the Volcanoes, featuring Stanstead College alumni Roger Goodsell, Pierce Ellis, Dan Houghton and Bob Dennis, all reunited just for the occasion. Also playing were local favourites, Gerry Goodsell and Black Dog Band.
