UdeS Coop joins Priorité Sherbrooke program

Many university students will now have the opportunity to make some money back as they spend it, as two organizations at the Université de Sherbrooke have joined the city chamber of commerce’s Priorité Sherbrooke program.
The Coopérative Université de Sherbrooke, an organization of businesses that cater to the needs of students at the university, along with the school’s Café CAUS announced their participation in the savings program at a press conference Monday morning.
The Priorité Sherbrooke program is an initiative by the city’s chamber of commerce which encourages citizens to buy local by offering them a card that, when used at participating businesses, will gain them currency that can be used just like money at these same businesses. Technology developed by company FANBOX has also allowed these cards to be used at Desjardins terminals.
“Currently we have slightly over 18,000 cards in circulation,” said Serge Audet, president of the Sherbrooke chamber of commerce. “What this announcement means today is that there is the potential for between 15,000 and 20,000 more potential cards,” he added, referring to the approximate number of students at U de S.
