Fête Nationale celebrations in Cowansville on Wednesday,  June 24 take on a decided Chinese flavour with Dragon Boat races on Lac Davignon. A fundraising event for Camp Garagona, the races feature seventeen of the long, narrow boats decorated with dragonheads and streamers and pushed forward by the steady beat of many drums.

The Camp Garagona Dragon Boats fascinated the crowd at Lac Davignon in 2008. 

“We wanted to raise the bar on fundraising events and make ours something very special,” said Helene Sactouris, the camp’s general director.
“The sport isn’t really well known in the region and the race we held last year with eleven boats really fascinated people. It’s a very exciting sport to watch. Everyone who took part said it was a great event and are coming back this year.”
