Sutton taxpayers are questioning a hastily proposed $4-million town hall renovation on the heels of skyrocketing municipal taxes and escalating operating costs for the town.
The question is not whether or not to renovate - most agree work is required. It’s the scope of the plan and the manner it is being presented that has taxpayers worried.

SES police intervention: ‘Game of the broken telephone’

Students and staff at Sherbrooke Elementary School got a scare Wednesday afternoon as the Sherbrooke Police carried out an investigation in the area around the school. The police were called in after two separate students approached supervisors at lunch-hour saying that they saw a suspicious looking individual near the school. The school’s administration contacted the police and opted to secure the building for the remainder of the afternoon as the SPS carried out their investigation.

Scottish harpist and fiddler visit four countries for Routes to Roots project

Esther Swift and Catriona Price are finishing up their one-month tour in Canada by playing a string of concerts in the Sherbrooke region. Together, the harpist and fiddler make up the innovative modern folk group, Twelfth Day. They will be playing a traditional folk dance in Waterville on tonight (May 17) along with local musicians Nicholas Williams and Alex Kehler. On Saturday, Twelfth Day will play a concert at La Caravane in North Hatley.
