Canada Games: Nicolas Racine off to the Games

It was on Sunday, June 9 that Nicolas Racine heard the good news that he has effectively has qualified for the Sherbrooke Games in August.
“It feels really good,” says the canoe-kayak athlete with an audible sigh of relief. “I had to go up to Quebec for the qualifying races, and I came in second at the 200-metre race and sixth at the 1,000-metre race. So I qualify for the Games,” explains Racine over the phone.

BRP Cascades tournament tees off Wednesday

The 16th annual BRP Cascades golf tournament kicks off this Wednesday at the Venise Golf Club. The tournament aims to raise funds for the CHUS Foundation.
At 9:30 a.m., 180 golfers, including JosĂ© Boisjoli, president of BRP and Alain Lemaire, executive chairman of Cascades, will tee off hoping to surpass last year’s take of $1,526,877.

Canada Games: Edson Warner — showing passion for sport

Edson Warner, Olympian and recently inducted into the Canadian Hall of Fame, is volunteering for the Sherbrooke Canada Games.
Warner, clad in a tailored blue suit, was open to talking about his vast experience with the Olympics and with Canada Games in general.
Meeting up at the Canada Games headquarters, Warner took a nostalgic look back at his past.

Phoenix to open sophomore season on the road

The Sherbrooke Phoenix will open their second season with a visit to the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada on Friday, September 13, according to the full 2013-14 schedule released by the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League on Monday afternoon.
The first home game for the Phoenix will come one week later, on September 20, also against the Armada.
