$800 raised for Sherbrooke man who had wheelchair wheel stolen

Charles Maheu made his way to the Sherbeach event on July 12 at the Lucien-Blanchard park to partake in a concert night with several DJs. Throughout the night, Maheu gave the front wheel of his wheelchair to an individual on site so that he could better make his way across the crowd. It has unfortunately not been seen since. According to Maheu, the wheel cost over $800. The fifth wheel is custom made and unique to his wheelchair and therefore has no use to others. It has also made moving around difficult for the young student. Larger in size, the fifth wheel provided his chair with more stability and allowed him to access more difficult terrain. The Sherbrooke Police Department called on the public to help two weeks ago but to no avail. Sherbeach organizers were compelled to help out the festivalgoer and therefore launched a GoFundMe campaign. The campaign, launched on July 30, aimed to raise $800 to help him pay for a new wheel.
