A new Bird has flown into town

Introductions can be difficult, but I’ll give it my best.

My name is Bird Bouchard and I am so excited to join the team at The Record. I recently moved to Quebec from Ontario, where I wrote for The Ridgetown Independent News after graduating from the Media Convergence Program at St. Clair College.

As a journalist, my passion is writing stories the public ought to know. Whether it be a sports story, something happening at town council or a feel-good story, I always enjoy talking to others and giving them a voice.

When I first arrived in Sherbrooke, my family and I were immediately welcomed with open arms. The support we received was overwhelming in the best possible way. There was a strong sense of community. People were willing to lend a hand with moving, sending over baked goods and greeting us with warm smiles.

While I have only been here a week, I am already starting to feel at home.

When I’m not writing the latest news story, I enjoy playing disc golf, playing board games, being outside and hanging out with my wife, dog and two boys.

I also have a passion for pizza. So much, in fact, I started the Windsor March Madness Pizza Bracket. It’s exactly what it sounds like. Every year since 2020, Windsorites have had a chance to vote for their favourite pizzeria. There are more than 64 pizzerias in Windsor and people are extremely passionate about which pizza is the best. Arcata has won two straight years and has put up a massive billboard in front of their location to bask in the glory.

The point is, everyone seems to be passionate about things affecting their daily lives and things they believe others should know.

Community news is vital and the community’s thoughts, comments, opinions, etc. truly matter.

If you have tips on which pizza place I should try next, interesting things happening in the community or any news tips at all, please send me an e-mail at bbouchard@sherbrookerecord.com.

I’m always interested in trying a new pizza spot, and eager to write the latest news story on what’s happening right within our community.
