The Beaulne Museum is presenting a new exhibition, “ Buckle-up!” The History of the Belt, from Feb. 27 to Nov. 27, 2022.

The beginnings of the existence of the belt date back to the Bronze Age (2700 to 900 BC). Originally, they were primarily utilitarian, essentially masculine, and were used to carry tools and weapons. For example, military belts are considered the first in history. The uses and functions of the belt have diversified over time. This is how sectors such as fashion, sport and many other socio-professional circles have appropriated belts.
