A total of 68 new cases for Monday

The most recent data on the evolution of COVID-19 in Quebec on Monday showed 68 new cases, bringing the total number of infected persons since the start of the pandemic to 61,741.
Taking into account the two deaths that occurred in the previous 24 hours, the one death which occurred between August 17 and August 22 and another one which occurred before August 17, (for a total of 5,744) as well as the 54,761 people considered to have recovered, this left the total number of active cases across the province at 1,236. The number of hospitalizations decreased by two on Monday compared to the previous day, for a cumulative total of 115. Of these, patients in intensive care decreased by two, for a total of 12. 11,372 tests were taken on August 22, for a total of 1,569,867.
In the Estrie region, Monday’s report brought ten new cases, increasing the regional total to 1,165. Taking into account the 26 deaths in the region (a figure which has remained unchanged since June 23) and the 1,068 people considered recovered (an increase of six), this left 71 active cases in the area, only one of which requires hospitalization. There are no intensive care cases of COVID-19 in the Eastern Townships. To date 47,960 people have been tested locally, with 2.1 per cent returning positive results.
