Abercorn mayor and three councillors step down during council meeting

In a shocking twist during Monday’s municipal council meeting in Abercorn, Mayor Guy Gravel, as well as three councillors, François Cusson, Pierre-Marc Parent, and Raphaël Delacombaz, submitted their letters of resignation effective immediately.
Councillor Éric Bissonnette has taken over as acting mayor of the small border town in the Eastern Townships. Meanwhile councillors Bernard Guilbault and Margaret Lefebvre-Macey are also staying involved. However, with the sudden departures, Abercorn no longer has quorum.
In a phone interview, Bissonnette told The Record that he was blindsided by the four members of the municipal council who decided to walk away.
