Alain Rayes, the Conservative Party Member of Parliament for Richmond-Arthabaska, announced on Sunday that he will not be continuing in his position as the party’s Quebec Lieutenant
In his statement, the MP said that the decision was based on a desire to support a candidate in the leadership race caused by the party’s ousting of Erin O’Toole last week.
“The next leadership race will be decisive for the Conservative Party of Canada,” Rayes wrote. “I want to play an important role by supporting a candidate. I therefore have no choice but to leave my current position.”
