Wednesday marked the end of the line for the tenants of the Albert Hotel in Sherbrooke as intervention teams moved in to evacuate the parts of the building deemed dangerous by the Régie du bâtiment du Québec, the regulatory body that oversees building codes in the province.
“Really early this morning there was already a team from the CIUSSS present talking with every tenant about what their plans were for relocating,” said Gabriel Palletta, spokesperson for the Table itinérance de Sherbrooke, a roundtable group focused on homelessness in the city.
