On Saturday, March 13 the Missisquoi North Volunteer Centre (CABMN) in Mansonville held a drawing for the winner of the autographed number 6, Shea Weber (Montreal Canadiens hockey team captain) jersey donated by the Montreal Canadiens Foundation.
Thanks to retired Montreal Canadiens defenseman, Stephane Quintal, who got the jersey following a request from CABMN Executive Director, Mable Hastings, donors were asked to donate in $25 increments to a fundraiser that will enable the CABMN to purchase skates, hockey sticks, helmets and other equipment for youth to sign out on loan. With Potton’s new multi-functional shelter and skating rink, it was important to the CABMN, and more specifically its Youth Program, that youth who did not have equipment be able to access what they needed to share in the joy of using the rink and the various activities with their friends, family and neighbours. All those who donated received entry to the draw according to each increment of $25 contributed.
Quintal, who has purchased a home in the area, was more than willing to come and draw the winning name over the weekend.
Want to make a donation to this effort even though the draw is over? You can still donate by contacting the CABMN at 450-292-3114 or Mable Hastings at m.hastings@cabmn.org
