Antique sale this weekend at Manoir Stanstead

By Matthew McCully

Treasures found in the uninhabited sections of Manoir Stanstead, formerly the Ursuline Convent, will go up for sale this weekend on the grounds of the residence.
After years of sitting empty when the convent closed, it was renovated and opened in 2011 as Manoir Stanstead, but some areas of the large building remained closed off.
While making the rounds and keeping the building in good shape, Manoir maintenance man Tony Chamberlain discovered a number of antiques that he thought could be of interest to collectors.
The Manoir staff then decided to hold a yard sale for the antiques that Chamberlain found, and use the money raised for activities for the residents.
The sale will be held in the backyard of the residence, located at 496 Rue Dufferin on Friday from 7 a.m. until 3 p.m., Saturday from 7 a.m. until 3 p.m. and Sunday from 8 a.m. until noon.
The tables will be set up eight feet apart from each other to leave plenty of room for social distancing, Manoir staff said. While the event will be held outside and masks are not required, stall members will be present to control the flow of people and make visitors keep a safe distance at the sale.
