By Matthew McCully – The community-owned health cooperative, The Massawippi Valley Health Centre (MVHC), has been awarded a $30,000 grant from the municipality of Ayer’s Cliff, to be paid over three years. According to MVHC President Richard Violette, the funds will help support the health centre in general, and also help with a renovation project planned to expand into the basement of the building. “We’re running out of space,” Violette said, adding that the clinic wants to add services geared towards disease prevention. “We want to work in that direction in the future,” he said, in line with new government policies to promote healthy living as a means of disease prevention. “That’s the direction they’re taking,” he commented.
