Christina Smith and Micheline Cliché were instrumental in the development of the library in Ayer’s Cliff, from the time it occupied a single room in the basement of Ayer’s Cliff Elementary School, till it moved into its own building in the centre of town, almost quadrupling in size over the years.
On Wednesday evening, library volunteers and community members gathered at the community centre in Ayer’s Cliff to recognize the work Smith and Cliche have done in support of the library, and as a surprise, they were told the children’s reading room of the library has been dedicated to them.
Smith and Cliche were presented with a plaque bearing their names, which will be hung in the library.
