Ayer’s Cliff Music Fest leaves a legacy of generosity

By Matthew McCully – The final Ayer’s Cliff Music Festival benefiting the Children’s Wish Foundation took place during the first weekend in June.
According to Chrissie Wiley, who has been organizing the event for the past 25 years with her husband Peter Mackey and a dedicated crew of over 80 volunteers, it was an emotional year for the family. “We were tired, thrilled yet sad, all wrapped in one package. Our grown kids do not know life without helping us or discussing new ideas. Our grandchildren will never really understand what we tried to do for our sick children in our area,” Wiley commented.
That being said, Wiley added, “We never did any of this alone! When I say ‘we’, I mean all 80 plus of us!” Wiley credited the volunteers who have been coming back year after year to help make the event a success. “Our volunteers really know how to work and see what needs to be done, even sometimes before the fact.” See full story in the Wednesday, June 19 edition of The Record.
