When the Bernier Bridge for recreational vehicles in Brompton was swept away by an ice dam in the early days of 2018, the city of Sherbrooke committed to replacing the structure in short order. On Tuesday morning, standing on the bridge before a gathering of local snowmobile enthusiasts and politicians, Sherbrooke Mayor Steve Lussier declared the effort a success. “We promised the population that the Bernier Bridge would be rebuilt in a year,” the mayor said, pointing out that the bridge is the only recreational vehicle crossing on the river between Richmond and East Angus. “I am very proud to say: mission accomplished.” See full story in the Wednesday, Dec. 12 edition of The Record.
