THE SCOOP BY MABLE HASTINGS
The Missisquoi North Volunteer Centre (CABMN) Senior Services team started a new activity for seniors at its Feather in the Wind Senior Centre located in the hall of the former St. Paul’s Anglican Church in Mansonville on Tuesday afternoon from 1:30 to 4 p.m. Bingo for small prizes is a four-week trial activity being offered for three more weeks to see if there is an interest.
Organized by the newest member of the Senior Services staff team, Lucie Beaudoin, this weekly event features volunteer, Mary Lachance as the bingo caller and a variety of other volunteers are helping with snacks and games.
“It takes a few people to run even a small bingo for fun,” said Lucie Beaudoin. “The first week of anything can sometimes be a slow start but we are going to run the weekly bingo for four weeks and then decide if we should continue or not depending on interest and attendance.”
The first Tuesday found seven participants come out to enjoy the afternoon together. Beaudoin hopes that next week the numbers will double. The group that gathered was joyous upbeat and fun to spend time with. A variety of small prizes were won by the delighted participants.
