David Birnbaum, the Liberal Member of the National Assembly for the riding of D’Arcy-McGee was in Sherbrooke on Wednesday as part of an ongoing effort by members of the Quebec Liberal Party to connect with communities outside of the Island of Montreal. Birnbaum told The Record that his meetings in the area, which included groups like Mental Health Estrie and Townshippers’ Association, were mainly connected to his work as the Official Opposition Critic for Mental Health and Official Opposition Critic for Relations with English-Speaking Quebecers.
“It was a revealing day,” the Liberal MNA said, making particular note of the way that needs for mental health services in English have been falling through the cracks on a systemic level. “How can you begin to say you’re getting a service if you don’t understand it?”
