Bishop’s choir trying out a new take on Christmas

The Bishop’s University Singers are bringing their annual Christmas concert to the stage at the end of this week, offering up a mix of classical and festive favourites alongside a brand-new composition by Bishop’s music professor Andrew MacDonald entitled “Hodie Christus Natus Est,” or “Chirst is born today.” “It’s the Christmas story for choir and brass ensemble” MacDonald told The Record, explaining that a childhood spent in Christmas choirs inspired a love of the style and conventions of choral Christmas music. “I’ve always wanted to do a piece like that.” See full story in the Tuesday, Nov. 27 edition of The Record.
