The Bishop’s University Students’ Representative Council (SRC) presented its 2019 Orientation Week from August 31 to September 7. Under the theme of “Legends of Olympus,” the SRC organized a variety of activities and events to help the integration of the incoming class.
“I’m proud that our team has created an event that will support our students’ safety, stay true to our traditions, and add some fun new twists,” said SRC president Marilyn Hardy. “We have worked all summer to create a legendary event that will allow our incoming class to fully integrate into the Bishop’s community.” Over the last few years, the University has introduced an array of sexual assault prevention initiatives, focusing on the importance of consent and developing tools to become an active bystander. “All incoming students attended both the internationally recognized ‘Can I Kiss You’ presentation by Mark Domitrz, and a session on Bystander Intervention Training,” added the SRC. Presented in partnership with the Student Services, these programs were offered in collaboration with “safe boxes,” giving the students an anonymous, safe outlet to share their concerns about the orientation activities.
