The Bishop’s University Gaiters made an exciting announcement Thursday. After one season in the Independent Women’s Club Hockey League and two seasons playing in Division 2 of the American Collegiate Hockey Association, the Gaiters Women’s hockey team will join the Réseau du Sport Étudiant du Québec (RSEQ) University Women’s Hockey Conference for the 2020-21 season. They will be the first team in Quebec outside of Montreal to join the RSEQ and they are looking to compete amongst some of the best women’s hockey teams in the country. Women’s hockey at Bishop’s dates back as early as 1915 but the Gaiters women’s hockey team is now preparing to enter a new era in the team’s history.
As they enter the RSEQ, one of the strongest leagues in Canada, the Gaiters are now getting ready to kick things up a notch to compete against top ranking teams such as McGill, Concordia, and University of Montreal at the U SPORTS level.
