Bishop’s gets a business boost

Bishop’s University’s “Leading the way” fundraising campaign is more than three quarters of the way to its thirty million dollar goal thanks to a new five-year partnership with Desjardins announced last Friday afternoon. The new $250,000 Desjardins Scholarship Program is intended to support Bishop’s students and local entrepreneurship initiatives, and raises the total amount of money committed to the overall campaign to $23 million.

“As a public university largely dependent on government funding, private philanthropy has always been and will continue to be a key factor in Bishop’s ability to achieve its high ambitions,” said Bishop’s Principal Michael Goldbloom. “The announcement that we are celebrating today is the latest example of Desjardins’ commitment to business innovation, to universities, and to entrepreneurship. It marks the beginning of a mutually supportive partnership between Desjardins and Bishop’s of which we are extraordinarily proud and exceptionally optimistic.”
