From Monday Feb. 7 through Friday Feb. 11, Bishop’s University and its students are celebrating Eco Week on campus. Each of the five days contain multiple different events focused on informing students about the importance of sustainability and reducing their carbon footprints. Organized by the school’s Environmental Club and the Sustainable Development Team, with the support of the university administration and numerous clubs and organizations, the plan is to offer a week filled with both informative and enjoyable events.

“Eco Week has been going on for the past couple of years and its purpose is to promote green initiatives and awareness,” said Manu Bissonnette, co-lead of the Environmental Club. With climate crisis and global temperature increases, both the club membership and the Sustainable Development Team believe that informing students with a weeklong event is necessary.

“With all that is going on in the world, it’s important to remember that preserving and restoring our environment will be important for the future,” Bissonnette added. “There’s many different kinds of events each day so there’s always something new to learn.”
