Bishop’s women’s hockey program ready for USPORTS challenge

Although U SPORTS, Canada’s national governing body of university sport, remains undecided on the future of winter athletics, the Bishop’s University Gaiters women’s hockey team continues to practice and prepare for its first season in the top league.
According to Lory Lacombe, the team’s rookie of the year and most improved player last season, the Gaiters are ready to take the next step. They spent most of last year playing in exhibition games against team’s from Quebec and the United States of America.
“It’s a big challenge, obviously, these teams have been practicing already together,” said Lacombe. “We have a lot of rookies, we’re a new team, but we’re ready for the challenge.”
