Brière in, Dusseault out in Sherbrooke

After a drawn out wait that lasted well into the early hours of Tuesday morning, Élizabeth Brière became the first Liberal Party candidate to win a seat in Sherbrooke since 1984. As of the final tally, the Liberals took the riding with a 600 vote lead over the NDP, and a 2,000 vote lead over the Bloc Quebecois, who spent much of the night in third place. Brière Gathered with supporters at Sherbrooke’s Cage au Sports restaurant, where the tone was subdued but optimistic for much of the night. Far from crowding the space, the gathering nonetheless made themselves heard when nearby screens showed off a Liberal candidate leading across the country.
