BU offers a Shakesperience like no other
Over 20 students and members of the community, led by Dr. Jessica Riddell, participate in Shakesperience each year. They will be traveling to the Stratford Theatre Festival in June to see six plays and experience backstage tours and workshops. “The age range – 18 to 79 years young – provided an amazingly rich set of conversations about life through the lens of Shakespeare’s plays.” (Photo : Courtesy of Jessica Riddell)

By Emilie Hackett, Special to the Record – After obtaining her Doctorate in English Literature from Queen’s University, Jessica Riddell began teaching at Bishop’s University in 2009 and has made a significant difference at the University and in its English department. One of her latest achievements is the creation of the Shakesperience course, offered each spring since 2016. The one-week course is open to members of the community as well as students and includes a trip to the Stratford Theatre Festival and backstage tours. Shakesperience will be happening intensively from June 8 to June 15, 2019, where attendees will travel to the Stratford Theatre Festival in Ontario to see six plays, participate in workshops and private backstage tours, and have discussions with directors, actors, costume designers, and writers.
