Record Staff – The City of Sherbrooke cancelled and then later reinstated the press briefing that typically precedes debate on the municipal budget this weekend in a flip-flop of political manoeuvreing that left some scratching their heads. On Friday Sherbrooke’s French-language newspaper, La Tribune, published a report claiming exclusive access to the confidential draft budget. The information published by the paper notes, among other things, a more than three per cent increase in property tax rates to offset cost increases.
