Buses to be equipped with ­seatbelts by 2020

Record Staff – Buses built on or after September 1, 2020 that will operate in Canada must be equipped with seatbelts, Transport Canada has announced.
Seat belts will be mandatory on newly constructed medium and large coaches weighing more than 4536 kg.
The new requirement will not apply to school buses since they are already designed to protect school-aged children in the event of an accident.
School bus operators may, however, have them installed voluntarily, provided they meet Transport Canada’s requirements. With the Canadian Press
