By Taylor McClure, Special to The Brome County News – Brome County News recently had the opportunity to sit down with Heather Croghan Moreland, who has been working at Knowlton Academy for three years as a Readaptation Officer, to discuss her recently published children’s book titled Not Tired at All! The book has only been out for a month and we caught up with Heather to find out what her special project is all about. Not Tired at All! is about a young girl named Shirley who has trouble going to sleep when it is her bedtime. Her parents struggle to put her to bed while she makes it her mission to stay up all night. After missing out on a trip to the zoo, Shirley soon learns that skipping bedtime is not the best of ideas. When asked what inspired her to write this story Heather explained, “My own daughters don’t sleep. They aren’t great sleepers so I wrote the book to help them.” Heather struggled, and continues to struggle, with sleep herself and she didn’t want her children to have to go through a similar situation. “While they didn’t like that Shirley didn’t get to go to the zoo,” she said, “the book did help them to be less anxious about bedtime. Once we started talking about it, we, as a family, looked at strategies to help them relax and fall asleep. We thought of little things to do to lessen the anxiety.” See full story in the July 2 edition of the Brome County News.
