It would be wise to call ahead before heading out to a scheduled event in the Townships in the near future. Following Premier Francois Legault’s social distancing measures and ban of indoor gatherings of more than 250 people, local organizations have opted to suspend, postpone and cancel several upcoming events. The Sherbrooke Phoenix has suspended the rest of its regular season and any on ice activities until further notice. The Windsor Wild has also cancelled this weekend’s games. Bishop’s University Drama’s production of The Miracle Worker at Centennial Theatre has been cancelled. Orford Music has cancelled its performance of Le Carnaval des animaux de Saint-Saëns, scheduled for this Sunday, March 15 as well as the vernissage for Marie Montiel accompanying and vegetarian meal planned for March 17. The St. Patrick’s celebrations held annually at the Jean Coutu in Lennoxville have been cancelled this year. See full story in the Friday, March 13 edition of The Record.
