Cases up in Quebec, down in Estrie

The Province of Quebec reported 624 new cases, bringing the total number of people infected to 413,930 with 5,121 active cases.
There were five new deaths recorded, for a total of 11,405 since the start of the pandemic, and 297 hospitalizations with 88 in intensive care.
In the Eastern Townships the number of active cases decreased to 241. Of that 68 were in the Sherbrooke area, 60 were in the Haut-Yamaska, and 49 were in the Des Sources region, the last of which continued to have the province’s highest rate of infection in relation to its population. Although local case numbers went down overall, the number of hospitalizations increased slightly, to 12 with three in intensive care.
Provincial vaccination rates have now reached 89.7 per cent for a first dose among those 12 and up and 86.1 per cent for adequate vaccination.
