The City of Sherbrooke will mark Childhood Cancer Awareness Month by lighting up the front of City Hall in yellow until Sept. 8.
Cancer is the leading cause of disease-related death among young people. In the Eastern Townships, the Leucan organization supports nearly 200 families affected by a type of childhood cancer. Several fundraising activities are organized in the region to raise funds to support research. “Children are the wealth and the future of a society. With this gesture, we want to show our compassion for them and their families, who must fight a daily battle against cancer,” Sherbrooke Mayor Steve Lussier said.
