CJMQ struck by weekend woes

By Gordon Lambie

The local airwaves were a little quieter in the Townships over the weekend after an equipment failure at Lennoxville-based community radio station CJMQ stopped the broadcast early Saturday morning.
According to station manager David Teasdale, the failure of the station’s two transmitters was a bit of a mystery, and not one that could easily be solved in the short term.
“This happens to stations all the time, but we’re not quite sure of the cause,” Teasdale said explaining that there was no way to get the broadcast back up and running even on low power, before Monday. While still working on figuring out the best solutions to the issues on Saturday, the station manager speculated that the station would be back on the air at about an eighth of its usual power level at the start of the week.
